A.I. has changed education forever.

Tonee Ndungu, Founder and CEO of Kytabu, delivered a keynote at NAFSA’s annual global gathering in Orlando on how AI is reshaping education, work, parenting, and the future of learning.

Here is how Kytabu is leading this next chapter.

At NAFSA’s annual global gathering of educators in Orlando, Floriday in May 2026, Kytabu Founder and CEO Tonee Ndungu delivered a keynote on how artificial intelligence is changing the way we teach, learn, work, and prepare young people for the future.

His message was clear. Education cannot be defined by AI alone. It must be designed around people, culture, identity, talent, and lived reality. This is the work Kytabu is doing across Africa. We are building AI tools that support teachers, widen access for learners, strengthen school systems, and help children move through the world with confidence.

The future of education will not be built by technology alone. It will be built by people who understand learning, context, and human potential. Watch the keynote above to learn more.

Kytabu is creating learning experiences that are more interactive, personalized, and practical. From digital textbooks to AI-powered study companions, we’re focused on helping students understand concepts more clearly, build confidence in their abilities, and connect learning to their everyday lives. Our goal is to make education less about memorization and more about curiosity, discovery, and real-world application.

We believe teachers should be empowered, not overwhelmed. Kytabu is developing tools that save teachers time, provide real-time insights into student progress, and offer new ways to deliver lessons effectively. By blending technology with classroom practice, we’re helping teachers spend less time on administration and more time doing what they do best, which is inspiring and guiding learners.

Schools are at the center of this transformation. Kytabu is supporting institutions with scalable, AI-driven solutions that enhance learning outcomes, streamline management, and reduce costs. From smarter content delivery to improved resource planning, we’re helping schools adapt to a fast-changing education landscape while preparing students and teachers for an AI-powered future.

Our Vision in the age of AI

What should we do when the biggest companies in the world are creating tools that can completely disrupt our education system? We could choose to stick our head in the sand and hoe it goes away. But we all know that is highly unlikely.

At Kytabu, we do not see artificial intelligence as a replacement for the classroom, but as a powerful ally for teachers and students. The AI age demands skills that go beyond memorization into creativity, critical thinking, adaptability, and collaboration.

As tools like OpenAI’s Study Mode come into classrooms and the education system, our vision is to design tools that respect the journey of education empowered by AI. This means building assistive technologies that lighten teacher workloads, personalize unbiased learning, protect student data, and work in the real conditions of African schools.

As we think through the next century of learning, we have to think existentially. Because the jobs and societies we are thinking of, do not even exist yet and predicting what would be of value then would be incomplete if we do not embed Artificial Intelligence as a mainstay of that reality.

Can every child have an AI personal tutor

Can all teachers get AI assistants

Can all schools access AI effeciency

Practical. Relevant. Transformative.

At Kytabu, we’re focused on bringing AI into Kenyan education in ways that truly work for our schools. That means tools that respect our curriculum, adapt to real classroom conditions, and give teachers and students practical support they can use immediately. We’re not chasing shiny trends — we’re building solutions that fit the realities of our education system, while opening doors to new ways of teaching, learning, and managing schools. We are committed to making AI an enabler of equal opportunity, not a divider.

Hodari Vision

The Next Step in AI for Teachers

We believe teachers should spend less time juggling admin work and more time connecting with students. That’s why we’re developing Hodari Vision — discreet smart glasses powered by AI that give real-time lesson prompts, student engagement insights, and voice-activated classroom support.

We’re not there yet but we’re working to get there. Our goal is to test Hodari Vision in Kenyan classrooms, refine it with teacher feedback, and make it an everyday tool that works in the real conditions of our schools. If you share this vision as a teacher, school leader, or partner, we’d love to have you on the journey.
